Jean Couteau, an author, an expert and ex lecturer at the Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Denpasar. Growing up in a family which was strongly influenced by art and culture; his late father was a veterinarian and his late mother a celebrated painter and writer, Jean developed his own perspective about humanity in terms of history, culture, tradition and art.
Jean is a productive writer. He is a columnist at Kompas, writer of recent books published by @nowbalimag, publisher on Myth, Magic and Mystery in Bali
His main books on Bali; including Lempad (2014), Time, Rites and Festivals in Bali (2013), Bali inspires (2011), Bali Today. Through each of his works we can see how interconnected the tradition and art is to Balinese life.
